20 Books has partnered with Bradford Academy for the 2021 Summer
20 Books, Inc., is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to promote literacy and the reading of academic, vocational and self motivational literature. We also offer charity and programs to achieve this aim.
In our continued effort to aid in the development of literacy skills amongst youth, our 20 Books Reading Gift Program offers participating students the following:

- Gifts as incentives to read our assigned literature
- Exposure to complex language in the reading materials and assistance in its comprehension.
- And an environment of shared or group reading
Why Bradford Academy?
Bradford Academy is a K-8 public charter school located in Southfield, Michigan. Over 70% of the student population resides in the city of Detroit and at least 40% of the students are from low income families. Despite these barriers Bradford Academy teachers and staff strive to instill the qualities of character, excellence, creativity and service into students as they become prepared, global leaders.
Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program will be a six-week intensive program designed to engage students in reading to help improve and expand their fluency, vocabulary, public speaking, critical-thinking and analytical skills. The program is being offered to students in the 3rd and 4th grade that are attending summer school at Bradford Academy. A grade-level appropriate list of books has been created and students will receive guided instruction from their respective teacher. They will also be required to read another book based on their interest and reading level.
All students participating in this program will be given a pre and post assessment and an opportunity to earn a $50 gift card by providing a 3-5 minute presentation to the 20 Books Inc. board. The presentations will occur on 8/11 and 8/12.
